Job Description

Estimated hourly base pay: $18/hr (minimum) - $20/hr (midpoint) Plus shift differential and overtime

Are you ready to make your mark? If you are interested in becoming aHeat Treaterat Woodward, we have an exciting opportunity for you on 2nd shift!Heat Treater reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for cleaning, assembling, heat-treating, and assembling parts, in an industrial setting. The position involves loading parts into furnace and removing them after prescribed time. The position works under close supervision and uses limited contact with external suppliers and customers. This is for a 2nd shift career (afternoon - evening).

What you will be doing

  • Clean, assemble, treat, and inspect parts per applicable work instructions.
  • Communicate information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions etc.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and computer entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Load parts into furnace and remove parts after prescribed time and quench them in water, oil, brine, or other bath, or allow parts to cool in air.
  • Perform preventative maintenance using applicable equipment.
  • Set temperature and time of heating scale, and type temperature of baths and quenching medium to attain specific hardness, toughness and ductility to parts, and test parts for hardness.

What We Are Looking For

  • Knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of basic hand tools (e.g. wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, scrappers, box cutters).
  • The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice minute inconsistencies/faults in parts.
  • The ability to use computers and web-based systems to input, access, modify, or output information.
  • The position requires manual dexterity or the ability to work quickly with hands and strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.
  • Ability to adhere to department safety rules regarding ear and eye protection, personal protection, hazard labeling, MSDS sheets, evacuation procedures and emergency phone numbers.
  • The ability to perform simple arithmetic computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Knowledge of how quality impacts the success of the organization including costs to customers, costs of recalls and potential costs due to negative impacts on company's reputation. This includes taking the necessary steps to ensure quality on a consistent basis and striving for improvement.

Education or Formal Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
