Job Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic Senior performs advanced level skilled or semi-skilled, on-demand, corrective, and preventative maintenance on machinery, plumbing, carpentry, building, electrical equipment, HVAC, and patient rooms. Familiar with JCAHO, OSHA, NFPA (fire protection) regulations and other regulatory agencies relating to compliance for a Healthcare Environment.

Job Status: Full time, 40 hours per week
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, Day shift. May require schedule changes to accommodate downtime / preventive maintenance. May require weekends to accommodate downtime / emergencies / preventive maintenance. Note: Will be part of the On-call rotation which will require weekend rounding! Rotation shared with North Campus Facilities Team! On-call coverage is for a 2 week period.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - High school diploma or GED.
  • EXPERIENCE - Three years performing skilled or semi-skilled maintenance work in a healthcare, commercial or industrial setting.
  • EQUIVALENCY - None
  • LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S) - This position may require maintaining a clear motor vehicle record (MVR). When required, this is an essential requirement of the position and lack of adherence may impact employment.
Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
*No direct patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

*Perform a variety of emergency repairs and preventative maintenance to hospital buildings, community clinics, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds, keeping all areas in proper condition as directed.
*Operates a variety of equipment including hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintains tools and equipment in a safe, clean and proper working condition.
*Provides assistance to specialty skilled trades such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc.
*Maintains safe and clean machine rooms.
*Uses multiple technologies for tracking work order requests, tracking time and materials, processing needed supplies and maintaining needed inventory.
*Responsible for safe handling of potentially hazardous materials.
*Coordinates with contractors on scheduling work and repairs.
*Reads blueprints and schematics to perform preventative maintenance, testing, diagnosing, and repairs.
*Provides training and assistance to other maintenance mechanics and teams.
*Tests and documents equipment for regulatory agency compliance.
*Utilizes new technology and equipment to proactively identify mechanical or other issues.
*Manages small projects or facility improvements.
*May work solo shifts as needed.
*May have on-call responsibilities depending on location.
*May have responsibilities of maintaining regulatory documentation such as Joint Commission, and ability to present to surveyor.

SCOPE AND LEVEL
Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Guidelines are generally but not always clearly applicable, requiring the employee to exercise judgment in selecting the most pertinent guideline, interpret precedents, adapt standard practices to differing situations, and recommend alternative actions in situations without precedent.
Complexity: Duties assigned are generally complex and may be of substantial intricacy. Work assignment is performed within an established framework under general instructions but requires simultaneous coordination of assigned functions or projects in various stages of completion.
Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed.

Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $56,130.04 to $84,195.06
Hourly Salary Range: $26.99 to $40.48
