This position provides legal support to Regulatory Counsel on regulatory and compliance related matters as they arise in the context of development, sales, marketing, and oversight of Electronic Health Record (EHR) software, including but not limited to review and analysis of IT requirements documents and physician facing education and training materials to identify areas of regulatory risk; supporting Counsel to appropriately address questions and issues related to IT system and EHR development and deployment; and working directly with legal and compliance partners, as well as Physician Experience teammates to operationalize solutions to business, IT, and health care provider needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, organizing, updating, and maintaining various kinds of contracts relevant to the industry
  • Research, analysis and communication of legal facts and concepts
  • Identification and communication of potential legal issues for Counsel's guidance
  • Legal research of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Daily communication and interaction with Compliance and Privacy teams on relevant IT, operations, and electronic health records management matters
  • Preparation, review and revision of legal communications as directed by attorneys
  • Assistance on special projects
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned include, but are not limited to:
    • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
    • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures

  • Interest in or experience with translating legal jargon into "regular" speak

  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative and relationship-building skills; ability to interact positively with teammates at all levels across the company
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, project management and follow-through skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and adjust priorities appropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time frames
  • Self-directed; able to work independently and as a member of a team, and to foster a positive work environment
  • Working knowledge of fraud, waste and abuse laws (anti-kickback statute, false claims act) helpful but not required
  • Working knowledge of IT system and electronic health record development and deployment helpful but not required

Essential Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate required, Associates or Bachelors Degree
  • 2-4 years of Paralegal experience
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Document management experience highly preferred
  • Legal research experience preferred

Salary/ Wage Range

$24.71-$36.30 / hour

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
