Summary:

This position will involve work on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, completing water resources/civil engineering and related technical assignments. Project work may include hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control; water quality analysis in urban and/or rural settings; hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures; preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications; and working with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials. Assignments may also include involvement with or supervision of project teams involved in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, water quality modeling, GIS, and CADD work. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments either in the field or in another office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources

  • 10 years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Proven project management skills and experience

  • Experience with water resources challenges in Colorado including precipitation and flooding data analysis; urban and rural hydrologic analysis; storm sewer analysis and design; open channel and pipe flow analysis; hydraulic structures; stormwater quality and green stormwater infrastructure design; bank stabilization and stream restoration; floodplain analysis and mapping; dam break analysis; and dam and levee analysis and design

  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used software

  • Experience with proposal development

  • Experience with client management and business development

  • Willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative

  • Flexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality

  • 11+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality

  • Demonstrated success in business development and client management

  • Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software

  • Experience and knowledge of hydrologic modeling and 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software and water quality modeling

  • Experience with western water rights

  • Experience with site development design and plans and specifications

  • Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of either Barr's Denver or Fort Collins, Colorado, offices.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$130,000 Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus. Our compensation comes in more ways than traditional base salary, and we believe that when all those elements are combined, our compensation is a competitive part of the total value proposition of working at Barr.

NOTE:Must be able to work in locations that may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and conditions typical of industrial facilities. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required.Safety training will be provided.
