The Principal Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of one to many projects and tasks in varying IT areas such as application development, application support, systems administration, business intelligence, network administration and others. In addition to coordination and oversight of technical tasks during the execution phase of the project, the Principal Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for gathering and documenting customer requirements by interviewing and understanding customer needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IT practices and terminology in order to be knowledgeable enough to know when to raise questions in order to correctly drive the project execution tasks to completion. The candidate will need to be bright, imaginative, and a capable technologist with strong communication skills, specifically seeking an environment where they will impact the direction of the organization, and be a key contributor to overall success of the business. The pace is exceptionally fast at Sierra Space, and our dynamic environment will see many new projects in the coming year. The Principal Business Systems Analyst will need to be agile and flexible, as changes will be certain and frequent.

Sierra Space-based in Louisville, CO with operations in Madison, WI, Durham, NC, Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX, and Kennedy Space Center, FL-designs and manufactures the Dream Chaser spaceplane and other advanced spacecraft, commercial space destinations, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers, and international organizations.

Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, Kennedy Space Center, Florida, New York, NY, and Washington DC, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations.


Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or technical related discipline

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Higher education may be considered in lieu of relevant education

Preferred:

  • Ability to analyze business systems and/or business processes to identify user needs, document requirements, and address process improvements

  • Experience with Windchill, Teamcenter, and/or SAP or similar PLM, ERP or MES systems

  • Knowledge related to strategizing and planning large and/or complex data migration projects project, including moving data and conversion of content as necessary

  • Scrum Master certification, or equivalent experience to obtain such certification

  • Strong knowledge of risk management practices

  • Strong knowledge of requirements documentation tools such as Visio, Word, Excel, Jira, and/or Azure DevOps

  • Deep understanding of design and/or manufacturing engineering process and practices

  • Software product development experience

  • Experience with data mapping and documentation of system integration metadata and touchpoints necessary for implementation

  • Basic experience with writing SQL and understanding the basics of table querying for use in documenting data requirements

  • Strong knowledge of project planning and execution, using tools such as MS Project

  • Understanding of analysis and software development lifecycle methodologies

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$138,634.92 - $207,952.37

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
