Job Overview

Performs high quality pediatric diagnostic imaging procedures in multiple modalities. Provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards. Performs administrative duties including but not limited to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records. This position is responsible for communicating regularly with patients, families, and all hospital and community caregivers while following department expectations for interactions with patients and families. Team members in this job must maintain competency and registry in two or more Radiology disciplines and work 20% of scheduled shifts in their secondary disciplines. Required to be on call depending on location.

Additional Information

This position is eligible for relocation assistance, if relocating from 100 miles or greater.

Department: North Campus CT Scan
Hours per week: 36, eligible for benefits
Shift: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7am to 730pm. Limited call and Holidays required.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited Radiography program
  • EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of imaging experience.
  • CERTIFICATION(S):
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Radiologic Technologist ARRT(R); and any one (1) of the following advanced modalities;
      • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Computed Tomography Technologist ARRT(CT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board: NMTCB (CT)
      • Registered Magnetic Resonance Technologist ARRT(MR)
      • Registered Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)
      • Registered Bone Densitometry (BD)
Responsibilities
  • Neonate- < 30 days
  • Infancy- > 30 days to 1 yr
  • Toddlers- > 1 yr to 3 yrs
  • Pre-schoolers- > 3 yrs to 5 yrs
  • School age-> 5yrs to 13 yrs
  • Adolescent- >13 yrs to 18 yrs
  • Adult- >18 yrs to 65 yrs

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  1. Produces high quality imaging while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology utilizing proper diagnostic imaging protocols.
  2. Facilitates patient flow daily; to include management of STAT/urgent and high priority patients.
  3. Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
  4. Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others.
  5. Operates all imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment following safety procedures and protocols.
  6. Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
  7. Competent in CT Physics, dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.
  8. Demonstrates and maintains competency and ability to use all aspects of Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) as it pertains to modality specific functions and use.
  9. Demonstrates initial and annual competency in IV placement and securement, vascular access devices and extravasation handling.
  10. In the event of an emergency will act as first responder and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) until help arrives.
  11. Verifies patient allergies and clinical indications prior to contrast administration. Safely administers contrast using the five rights. Ensures contrast is appropriately ordered and documented in patients' medical record.
  12. Assists Provider with procedures as necessary (Maintaining technologist Scope of Practice). Follows established procedural guidelines; documents appropriate information as required; practices aseptic/sterile technique and standard precautions when necessary.
  13. Follows department policies, procedures and protocols. Raises or addresses concerns regarding non-compliance or patient/staff safety.
  14. Follows established quality assurance/control (QA/QC) and safety programs to include The Joint Commission, American College of Radiology (ACR), and the State of Colorado.
  15. Promptly reports equipment malfunctions or errors and contacts respective service engineer or Biomed for repair.
  16. Maintains competency and registry in two or more Radiology disciplines. Works 20% of scheduled shifts in secondary disciplines.
  17. Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms, following established department guidelines for customer service.
  18. Maintains flexibility around shift scheduling, location, call requirements, over-time and weekend assignments to align with organizational need.
Other Information

Guidelines: Developmental, standard, or intermediate level. Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.

Complexity: Falls between the entry and full performance/senior level. Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.

Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.

Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $75,957.07 to $113,935.61
Hourly Salary Range: $36.52 to $54.78
